The horses run their own event during the run: The Vermont 100 and Moonlight 50/75 endurace ride. I guess the original 100 mile runner started on horseback. For the second year in a row his horse had come up lame the day of the one day event. Rather than miss the race he decided to [...]

Vermont 100 – Race Report/Runners
Warning: This post promises to be much much too long! So this weekend my husband did something truly amazing, he raced in the Vermont 100 Endurance Race. That’s 100 miles of running. On two legs and two feet, no swapping those out. But he did it. And I helped out by driving around and providing [...]
He did it!
So my husband went under 24 hours in his 100 mile race this weekend. So he got the buckle. In fact he went under 23 hours. I’ll be blogging about it later but right now I have over 700 pictures to look through and many hours of sleep to catch up on.
FiveFingers Update
I’ve been loving my Vibram FiveFingers so far. They are so strange as shoes. I can feel every rock, every stick and every puddle. I find myself having to pay attention to what I am stepping on or in all over again. I mostly wear them to go walking in the woods with the puppy. [...]
52 Pounds
The rock my husband carried for the last 5 miles of the 53 mile race on Saturday, has been weighed. It came in at a whooping 52 pounds. I think most people would have a hard time picking that up, never mind carrying it around up and down hills during a race. I think the [...]
Pittsfield Peaks 2009
We spent Saturday in Pittsfield, Vermont. Adam was racing the 53 mile, 14,000 feet of elevation gain ultramarathon known as Pittsfield Peaks. Cooper was thrilled to find Adam after waiting for him at at Aid Station. A lot of Ultrarunning is actually walking. At least at Adam and his friends’ levels. Adam seemed to be [...]
Wapack 50/Pineland Farms 50
Adam’s pretty heavily involved in his ultramarathon racing season. Two weeks ago he raced the Wapack 50. It’s 50 miles on the rugged Wapack trail in Southern New Hampshire. Cooper and I hiked Pack Monadnock so we could meet him and there was rocks that the puppy just couldn’t jump in the middle of the [...]
Biomechanics Experiment
I have plantar fasciitis, badly. I’ve had it for at least three years. I’ve seen podiatrists, done physical therapy, spent too much money on orthodics that ended up breaking. I used to be a runner, I used to do 30+ mile long backpacks and now I feel trapped because I never know when it acts [...]
Muddy Moose
Adam and my friend Erin raced the Muddy Moose in Wolfeboro, NH this weekend. It’s a interesting race because of the muddy aspect. I did the 4 mile option last year and there was huge sections of knee deep mud. The entire course is pretty much mud puddle after mud puddle. Adam and Erin did [...]
